The Loft at Spindlestone

Great location, spacious accommodation but requires some updating. Positive: Spacious and well equipped Negative: The mattresses desperately need replacing, the springs are coming through the top of the mattress and I had to put two duvets underneath to be able to sleep. The directions to the property need to be more specific and the names of the rooms you are staying in should be advertised at the gate. There is also a wasp issue on the top floor, there were 10s of wasps flying outside the entrance to the loft. A bit of a welcome pack would have been nice too. Fresh milk rather than long life makes all the difference but that was all that was provided and no other welcome pack items.

This property is tired and needs refurbishment Positive: Generous amount of space. Management were polite on the phone and I think they tried to sort the problem we reported (dirt coming off the roof into one of the bedrooms from the Velux window) but their maintenance people let them down by showing up late in the evening and the second maintenance guy being extremely rude. Negative: Strong musty mould smell in the en suite bathroom. Shower door didn’t close in en suite Grout coming away all round en suite bathroom. Loo seat lose. Oven won’t shut. Had to prop door shut with a chair to cook dinner. Dirt and debris falling all over bed from roof when Velux window opened. Hot on top floor and lack of ventilation. Rude maintenance guy who showed up on day 2 at 9:10pm when we were serving dinner (they had had all day to sort). Maintenance guy the night before (when we first reported window) arrived at 10:20pm! Uncomfortable very old mattresses.
